Suresh Naganathan

Born in Switzerland in 1980, Suresh moved back to India, his parents’ country of origin, in 2008. Overwhelmed by the sounds, colors, and overbearing human presence in this new environment after 28 years in calm Switzerland, he picked up the camera in 2014 to make sense of the chaos surrounding him.

For the last 10 years, he has been exploring the streets of the world and of his home city, Mumbai. Wherever he goes, the camera is an integral part of him. He uses it to both explore the world around him as well as his own self.

His works have been published in Creative Image magazine, Eyeshot magazine, and World Street Photography book. He was among the photographers invited to contribute to the book “11 Top Street Photographers”, edited by Lynn Smith. He has been a finalist in many street photography competitions and most recently, he won the 2nd place in the EyeShot Open Call in 2022.

In May 2024, he published his first monograph “A World Called Mumbai”. It is a love letter to a place that has offered him so much and a small postcard for people to get a glimpse of what it feels like to live here.

Suresh is also one of the founding members of Bambai Collective, a collective of street and documentary photographers based in Mumbai whose aim is to showcase the various sides of Mumbai.
